About the publication
The origins of American speed
HotRodHistory.com is an online publication dedicated to the origins and evolution of American hot rodding, motorsports, and the performance automotive aftermarket.
Its central theme is that today's enormous performance aftermarket — and many of America's most influential motorsports traditions — grew from the ingenuity, experimentation, and entrepreneurial spirit of people who built and raced their own cars.
The publication is organized into 5 chapters, from the dry lakes of California to the dirt tracks of the Midwest and the beaches of Daytona.

Editorial standards
Documented facts only
Stories summarize widely documented dates, people, and events. Where details are uncertain, they are left out rather than guessed.
No invented quotations
No words are placed in the mouths of historical figures. Highlighted lines in articles are marked as editor's notes.
Clearly labeled imagery
Every image on this site is an AI-generated illustration, labeled as such. None are historical photographs or depictions of real individuals.
Placeholder content marked
Bylines and some supporting elements are placeholders. A full publication would add licensed archival photography and cited primary sources.
